Spring Break, No Tan
Spring Break Time!
After about two and half months of trying to find a good balance between school, a social life, and finding time for yourself, you can finally relax and do whatever you want, or in my case nothing. No trips, no beaches, just at home in the Midwest. But that's okay, I had things to do this week so let's get into that.
Driving to a Brand New Place! (i'm lying to you)
Nothing like driving home two and half hours of nothing but empty fields (it's not corn season). To be fair that drive is not bad at all, one of my brother's drive was five and half hours and my sister was 4. So, really it's nothing at all. Anyways, I'm a passenger princess because I can (I don't have my license as a junior in college oops). It was definitely one of our better drives, not too much construction and my boyfriend lets me play whatever music I want, so it was 150ish minutes of best music in the world. He doesn't mind for the most part, so yay. Anyways, playing music that you really enjoy (I avoid any slower/sad music so he doesn't get bored or sleepy) can help really get you in a good mood and can make that drive really feel like nothing. We made it home safe so yay, then my mom made us dinner and it was so yum. They make something they know he would enjoy as a thank you for driving their precious child home safely, honestly he gets a good deal; free dinner and me yapping the entire car ride home, what's not to love?
The Whole Fam Damily
Coming home of course means one thing, the family comes over. Now, it was not my whole family, I have 30 first cousins alone, that's a lot of people. My niece (cousin's kid) was already in my house in my room (basically hers at this point) and then her little brother (pictured to the left) showed up later with my cousin. So my first few hours home, I was hanging out with a 6 and 1 year old. Lit crazy movie, I know. But it was nice after not seeing them for a while, I thought 1 year old was going to forget me but we good, he instead got tortilla chip crumbs all over my bed and of course, baby slobber. Granted he has like 6 teeth so he's trying. But they chill, his sister spent the weekend at my house, so I got to enjoy a 6 year old kicking me in my sleep and waking up to Scooby Doo in the morning. But seeing family is always nice (at least if you like them, then it's nice. If not, I'm sorry).
What is frat cooler?
For fraternity formals (it varies depending on the fraternity), it can be like a sorority formal, where you go to a nice place and have a dance and dinner. Some, are more like a weekend trip. That's my boyfriend's formal situation, and usually for that, the date/girlfriend, paints a "frat cooler" so that the guy can put whatever he wants in there and enjoy the formal weekend. The theme of the cooler varies from sports, anything related to the school, various beverages and activities. Basically whatever looks cool, but in order to paint, you need to sand the cooler first. Thankfully my dad has one of those electric sanders and I had a brother available and got to work (he did most of the sanding, he did not trust my sanding skills, which fair enough). I forgot to grab a flick (picture), so just take my word for it. When I get back to school, I get to start sketching and painting so yay.
Back to Nothing
As the blog ends, I will get back to doing nothing, have a great break!
Glad to hear you're relaxing and enjoying your spring break to the fullest! I know a ton of people that really needed it honestly. This spring semester really everyone a run for their money for some reason. I could get behind doing absolutely nothing for break, it's practically meditating.
